Workshop Description
The workshop will cover experimental approaches to protein interaction determination; processing and presentation of interaction data available from online resources, and the role of interaction data in the interpretation of large scale datasets.
Day 1
- Experimental methods of protein interaction determination
- Protein-protein interaction resources
- Interaction record formats
Day 2
- Retrieval and processing of interaction records
- Visualization of interaction data
- Role of protein interactions in the interpretation of large scale datasets
Workshop Materials
Pending.
Technical Requirements
- Python
- a recent version (3.7 or newer) of cytoscape (https://cytoscape.org/)
- We strongly encourage attendees to bring a laptop capable of accessing UCLA’s WiFi.
Instructor
Dr. Lukasz Salwinski is currently an assistant researcher in the laboratory of Professor David Eisenberg who, for over a decade, has been responsible for development and maintenance of The Database of Interacting Proteins (https://dip.doe-mbi.ucla.edu). He received his master degree in biology at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow (Poland) and earned Ph.D. at UCLA, in the group of Professor Wayne Hubbell where he applied EPR spectroscopy to study structure of pore-forming bacterial toxins.
